Earth day giveaway

Have you ever started a day, knew you were going to be busy but didn’t realized how busy you were going to be until you were smack dab in the middle of it… That has been my month!

Earth day is quickly approaching. I had an entire day of festivities planned but because this month has been busy and particularly expensive we have run out of time and money.  However, these too major downfalls will not stop me from becoming more green and teaching my kiddos to do the same….

Here are a couple things that I plan on doing –

1. Paper mache Earth – small ones
2. Planting some flowers
3. Going to see the Disney Oceans movie

Whew – Would you look at that list?  I am one savy environmentalist.

Anyways – In honor of Earth Day I am doing a homemade giveaway…

Homemade Washcloths AND a coffee cozy!
Step back – Whew – I am crazy! Seriously – have you ever used a homemade washcloth?!  They are fantastic!  I am going to admit something now, I used my first one last week.  My husband always thought they were old looking however when he saw my day-glow colors (hot pink, blue, green, etc) he actually said they were alright.  Did you see that??  ALRIGHT!  So I grabbed one out of the cabinet and started putting it to use.  They dry fast, do the job, and don’t look disgusting!  Now the sponge is solely for dishes and my washcloth is for cabinets and the table..
The coffee cozy is an easy way to save some paper.  Ditch the cardboard sleeve and use this!! Talk about a lazy way to start helping the Earth a little bit…
If you would like to win these all you need to do is become a follower and post a reply telling me you are a new follower or are a veteran.  Also tell me what you like to do that is green. I love new tips!
The winner will be selected on that Random number selector thingy on April 30th.

I'm an old follower and can second how great homemade washcloths are… I don't have any more because my mom stopped making them several years ago and the few I had finally wore out after many washings… so I want to win!As for green things… we've eliminated all unnecessary paper products from our house… no paper napkins (except the occasional ones that come with the rare fast food which we horde for picnics), paper towels are only used for grease (bacon etc), and no paper plates or cups – we have some cute plastic ones in various seasons for parties and picnics…

Those are so cute; I especially love the coffee cozy! My cousin would love that. šŸ˜€ That same cousin and I actually started a garden not too long ago. It's coming along nicely. I think it's cool you're teaching your kids to be environmentally savvy. Especially, since I'm in college and am all the time printing out papers for notes or assignments, I get concerned about using up so much paper. I plan to recycle all of it once the semester is over! šŸ˜€

I am now a follower and I have been reusing, recycling paper & plastic, using reusable bags, composting household waste (coffee grinds, banana peels etc…) but so far have stopped short of getting red wiggler worms to eat the compost! (my 8 yr old wants them in the worst way, lol!)Happy Earth Day tomorrow!
