Holy SITS!!! It’s my day!!! I am so excited! Hello to one and all and welcome to my little blog!
If you don’t know what SITS is and you have not experienced the awesome and supportive community that they have created then PLEASE click HERE
As you meander through my posts (or not) you will find that this blog is primarily devoted to the learning process of Becoming Homegrown. I have had a waged war against my Sewing Machine, I will not be defeated! I am not a good cook and I am always aspiring to make wonderful dishes and instead I create the Mac and Cheese of doom which was so bad that my dog wouldn’t touch it. However through all this I have had successes, two great boys, a garden that actually produces food you can eat, and a couple of other things.
I blog about my failures and successes and how I work through it all…Oh and I am always blog hunting for others to teach me more!

HAPPY SITS Day! How exciting! I laughed when you talked about your sewing machine, my mom has forever been trying to teach me to sew…even gave me her sewing machine, and I suck at it, but I can embroider like no ones business! So keep it up, you'll get it, unlike me, I never will!
August 24th, 2010 at 6:11 am
Happy SITS day! I love your blog! I can't sew to save my life…my mother was an excellent seamstress but she never taught me, so I embarked on trying to teach myself…not a pretty sight, lol! One of these days I'm going to find someone to teach me. But I so totally understand. 🙂

Much congratulations on being today's featured 'SITS' girl!Being a vegan, I am always striving for preparing and cooking healthy, whole foods but fall just slightly short of IMperfection! It's a process and each experience, good, bad or indifferent — can be of value, so, I recently began a vegan blog to share what I DO know and to take in what others may want to share as well.Best of luck with your process — you're off to a great start!Hang in there and enjoy your special day!Peace and serenity,~Jo'The End Of The Rainbow: Life After Bankruptcy'AND…'Rabbit Food: A Vegan Blog'

Now THIS is the perfect example of a blog I need to check out everyday! My family needs to become more earth-friendly and expand our culinary horizons to include more organic veggies, fruit, and free-range meats. I know they may be more expensive but they are so much healthier for us all.I look forward to checking out your ideas and plans on how I can begin making this happen for myself and my family!Thank you so much for the inspiration!
August 24th, 2010 at 10:20 am
Congratulations on your SITS day! I waged a battle with my sewing machine last year. I'm still not sure who won, but on a good day it graciously allows straight seams!
August 24th, 2010 at 10:22 am
Happy SITS Day! I love the premise of your blog. It's funny what we wished we had learned or paid better attention to as we get older! (Sewing would definitely be on the top of my list. Buttons stress me out.)I'm glad I found you and I'll certainly be back to see what you're up to!
August 24th, 2010 at 10:22 am
Yay, happy SITS day! Congratulations! 😀 I love your photo of the garden gnomes. some friends and i took a garden gnome on our vacation to the whitsunday islands and took photos of him on all our adventures – scooba diving, sailing, out to dinner, by the pool. It was so much fun and really created memories for us. Thanks for reminding me of some of my own great memories. 🙂 And I love that you have your own garden that actually grows FOOD. I'm impressed… and perhaps even a little jealous. 😉
August 24th, 2010 at 10:28 am

Congrats on your SITS day. I'm not a good cook myself, but I tell people that I'm an excellent chopper. I can cut up vegetables like nobody's business. You see, if you make it look pretty, people don't notice so much if it doesn't taste great. LOL!Enjoy being queen for the day!

August 24th, 2010 at 1:17 pm

August 24th, 2010 at 1:33 pm
Happy SITS day! I just love the idea of your blog– becoming homegrown! I've been wanting to do a veggie garden for ages but can't seem to get around to it. I do have a few herbs but that's about it!enjoy the attention today!

August 24th, 2010 at 1:53 pm
Happy SITS day! I'm terrified of my own sewing machine, so I look forward to reading about your exploits…and the only thing I've managed to grow successfully in my garden is an overabundance of zucchini!
August 24th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
Morgan, CONGRATULATIONS! I was so thrilled to see your name and blog on the SITS site this morning! I have all your featured posts opened up under separate tabs and am looking forward to reading them all…but it made me realize that I've missed out on so much. You've been a great bloggy friend, commenter, and visitor… I regret not having been by your blog more… it's made me realize that I need to find some way to be able to balance it all: life outside the blog & in, the posting and responding to comments, and being able to regularly visit the blogs I enjoy and stay connected to the people with whom I've established a relationship.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
I didn't know it was your SITS day!!! Yay!!! Happy SITS day, friend!! 🙂
August 24th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
Big Congrats on being featured on SITS. I too garden and here lately have been canning what we don't consume. So in honor of that I am hosting a "CAnning Week Blog Party" on my blog this week where I daily post tips and recipes on how to can as well as linky parties and give-a-ways. Hope you can stop by and join in the fun!!!
August 24th, 2010 at 2:15 pm

August 24th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
Dropping by to wish you a very happy SITS day!
August 24th, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Just dropping by to celebrate your SITS day with you! I particularly enjoyed your post about the first day of school. My kids are 29 and 31 and I've had so many of those "Father of the Bride" moments. Coincidentally, I just posted about one of them last week. Enjoy your day.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Happy SITS day! Super cute stories! I love that you named your bellpeppers! Hope it's thriving! Happy Tuesday!
August 24th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
Happy SITS day! I'm definitely going to subscribe to your posts – anything that makes me laugh out loud is totally worth my time! Good luck wrangling the sewing machine (mine becomes a mangled mess of fabric, thread and bobbins whenever I use it.

Happy SITS day!! :)my garden didn't produce much this year 😦
August 24th, 2010 at 2:46 pm

Happy SITS day! Loved reading some of your posts… and love you sense of humor!!
August 24th, 2010 at 2:53 pm

August 24th, 2010 at 3:17 pm
Congratulations on your day to SHINE with SITS!
August 24th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Happy day to you! I'm so impressed with your gardening skills. I swear this fall I will garden if it kills me. I do not have a green thumb so I am always nervous when it comes to growing my own things. But it seems pretty fool proof.
August 24th, 2010 at 3:48 pm
Congrats on your SITS day!!! I commend you for your drive to garden. I've been trying to practice curing my black thumb on small house plants and a small herb garden outside my apartment, that way when we move into our house next year I with hopefully be able to run a full size yard! =) So I'm always glad to find somebody I can get good advice from, THANKS!!!
August 24th, 2010 at 3:49 pm
hApPY SiTs dAy! hope you have a wonderful day in the spotlight!
August 24th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
Good morning and Happy SITS Day to you! We do not have any garden gnomes, but we do have Prince Frog to protect our one remaining cherry tree (this made for a popular, yet DEPRESSING blog post!) As an "Eep! What the SIT was that noise!?" person when home alone at night, having a garden gnome staring at me from the yard would be a bit too creepy. If only I hadn't watched Goosebumps as a child! :pLamb’s Most Recent Post: Menu for Sexy Nerd’s Birthday Dinner
August 24th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
funny little garden dudes!! 😉 my kids would love to have them in our yard! Enjoy your day!
August 24th, 2010 at 3:55 pm
Happy SITS Day to you! I need to check out your Mac and Cheese of Doom lololol :)I like your gnomes!
August 24th, 2010 at 3:56 pm
Congrats on your SITS day! How refreshing to include your failures and successes – because isn't part of being a good parent (and person) trying enough things that you get the chance to fail? Very cool indeed. Regarding the sewing machine – I am so there with you – it sits in my garage. Total fear of taking it out and now it's so old, that that's my excuse. As for the mac n cheese, I have never ventured beyond Kraft by the box. I can make that without even measuring anymore but from scratch? No way – making cheese based food is actually quite difficult. Another pat on the back for trying! And thank goodness for PBJ! Have a great day!
August 24th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
hi stevie and petey!happy SITS day!

Stopping by to say congratulations on your SITS day!! I enjoyed reading your posts!!
August 24th, 2010 at 4:10 pm
Happy SITS Day!! I would love to have the time and patience to garden…. And I was laughing at the learning to sew / mac and cheese post… Threading that stupid sewing machine is harder than it seems! I had to call my mom one time when I couldn't get the stupid bobbin to pull up through!
August 24th, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Happy SITS day! I think you're funny too. It would be nice if we all blogged a little more about our failures if for no other reason than to make others feel better! Perfection gets a little grating. 😉
August 24th, 2010 at 4:20 pm
Enjoy your SITS day!!!You've got a great blog here!! (-:
August 24th, 2010 at 4:34 pm

August 24th, 2010 at 5:03 pm
Congrats on your SITS day!I cannot sew very well either. I wish I had more time to sit down and learn how to do it. But for now, I hem pants and sew holes and that is about it.
August 24th, 2010 at 5:07 pm
Congrats on your SITS day! I am SO jealous of your garden. Living in Manhattan does not allow me the luxury of a garden of my own, so I will have to live vicariously through you!

Happy SITS day. Your blog is visually beautiful. I love it. Oh and your posts are great too. LOL. Now about that garden that actually produces food…..how does that work? We planted a bunch of stuff, all we got were tomatoes. I'm thinking of making shirts to sell with this statement and a picture of our sad garden. Thanks for the great posts!
August 24th, 2010 at 7:55 pm
Happy SITS Day! I cannot sew, but I excited about homegrown!

A very happy SITSday to you!! Looking forward to gleaning good information from your blog.
August 25th, 2010 at 1:18 am
Happy SITS day. Your blog rocks. Rocks in a way that mine does not in that I hate to cook and sew and continue to not do so, despite repeated pleas from my family to OMG whatever I do, do not decide to cook and/or sew. They beg me to make salads, order takeout, and drop the clothes off at the repair lady–so it all works out just fine. I like your pretty food pictures and information a lot though. Maybe one day I'll contemplate figuring out how to turn on the knobby things on that metal thing in that room where food is supposed to come out of. Mazel Tov.

Happy SITS day Morgan. And don't give in to the sewing machine. There are TONS of places on the web to teach and/or help you out. I've been sewing for many moons now. This is one site I subscribe to – http://www.threadsmagazine.com/teach-yourself-to-sew. GOOD LUCK!!!
