I do not enjoy cooking.
I know that I have said this before but the fact remains the same. I hate cooking. And it’s horrible truth because it conflicts directly with my love to eat. I sit for hours reading Paula Deen, the Pioneer Woman, and countless blogs that have mastered the art of making good food. I have romantic visions of myself sitting on a patio I don’t own, drinking wine with friends that I don’t have and laughing at lifes’ complexides while plates of delicious food sit before us. Plates filled with food that I just whipped up in my spare time.
My vision is really a catalog add for Pottery Barn mixed with Bobby Flay.
Occasionally I feel the urge to cook and as long as I have most of the ingredients readily available, there is no holding me back. The pots and pans are pulled out, the oven is preheated to the magic 350 and I am determined to make a dinner that all will enjoy. A recipe that I can turn around post about here on my blog.
I finally gave in to these cooking urges even though my cooking common sense told me not to. I looked up a Paula Deen recipe that was sure to please and feed the masses.
The cooking went well and my dish came out perfectly. It was worth warming up my house in the August heat. I proudly distributed dinner to my children and we all sat down to enjoy a family meal together….. Now, I am not sure how many of you have read Calvin and Hobbes but my children must have found mine and took notes from Calvin’s dinner time etiquette. Just seconds after their first bite the fake vomiting noises and suddenly they both asked if it was breathing.
Cute kid huh?.
See that plate.
He still ate it even if it was breathing.
The last weigh in post I was coming it at 139 and I am pleased to say the results continue to be successful!
At this rate I am averaging about a pound a day and I am losing weight fast!
Even though the pounds are currently falling off easily this phase of the HCG diet plan is fairly tough. The amount of calories that I am allowed to consume each day total 500. So, yes, I am hungry almost all day and no it is not unbearable. My eating habits, after the first round of HCG, never went back to their extreme carb loving ways and the weight has stayed off!
Here is the following day weigh in:
Another day and another pound! Wonderful success!
I am going to take this moment and let you know right now. My goal is NOT to loose another 10-13 pounds. I am shooting for 135 on this round. I enjoy the curves and I have never been Twiggy.
If you have questions please don’t hesitate to ask! Check out 21 Day HCG
I am sorry for the delay in posting the winners from each giveaway. I have been working on moving the blog and it has been a bit more difficult than I expected.

I am dieting again. Never an easy or enjoyable task and as promised on my Facebook page I will be blogging the results. It helps you guys learn about the diet AND it keeps me accountable. A two birds with one stone thing….
If you were around in January you may remember that I participated in the HCG diet with fantastic results. I lost 13 pounds and kept most of them off! I was 137 at the end date of the last round and during these last few months I fluctuated in a five pound range. Not too shabby.
I am now participating in my second round of the HCG diet. Here was my first weigh in:
Yup this was right after my vacation so I was up a bit but not as much as I will be after my two day food overload. I am also going to take this moment to blame my vacation for the chipped off toe nail polish.
Following my two days of consuming massive amounts of food I gained a whooping three pounds! UGH. I was silently saying to myself “The miracle of HCG had better kick in because this is ridiculous.”
The results of one day on the 500 cal. Phase 2 diet were a success!
139.6 and would you check out my nail polish now….Blame the vacation. Anyways I dropped those five bad boys.
Now to all the nay-sayers out there, I know you don’t approve and I know what you are thinking so here is my response……I’m fine and I am not passing judgement on you so don’t start with me.
I am currently further along than these pictures but I am late in blogging the results so I will blog more tomorrow. Too many feet shots are not healthy for anyone.
Cereal is a staple in our house. We eat it for not only breakfast but for snacks as well. I would love to sit here and tell you that we only eat the healthy options but it’s just not true. The healthy options typically taste like cardboard or have that “healthy” taste and we always end up reverting back to our Cheerios selection. So when Fiber One offered an opportunity to try out their healthy option I was hesitant but threw my cereal precautions to wind and dared to walk on the wild side.
One morning I pulled out the box, hid the cover from my children, and poured us a bowl. As I placed the bowls in front of my kids I slightly cringed waiting for the complaints about something new and nothing happened! This kids dug in and so did I.
It is surprisingly sweet and that is a welcomed treat because I have a huge sweet tooth. There is no lingering aftertaste and I loved knowing that I wasn’t eating a bowl full of calories. At 80 calories per serving I was feeling pretty good about myself and was actually contemplating a gym membership.
Now it is your turn to have lingering thoughts of owning a gym membership….
Fiber One is giving you the opportunity to try their cereal out and they are including 1 box of Fiber One 80 calories, 1 sensor pedometer with a USB cable that allows you to track your walking on the computer, and neoprene iPod/smartphone holder with an armstrap. ( Both the pedometer and the smartphone holder are great because I used both when playing my Kinect exercise games because who are we kidding, a gym membership is not in the budget.)
Now here is what you need to do to win:
1. Follow Becoming Homegrown
2. Follow Becoming Homegrown on Facebook

No one ever informed me of THE CODE. The phrases that you said to your spouse or children that you think are fairly straight forward but actually they mean something completely different.
Let me enlighten you on a few key code phrases:
What I am saying: Ok- I am going to change now.
Code: Ok- This is the perfect opportunity for you to slam open the door while I am standing in my underwear
What I am saying: I am jumping in the shower (this actually has multiple code phrases)
Code: I am jumping in the shower so feel free to hunt for those cookies that I have hidden on the top shelf
I am jumping in the shower so please rip back the shower curtain to inform me that you need your pants buttoned
I am jumping in the shower so now is the perfect opportunity for YOU to go potty and scream for me to “come and wipe your butt.”
What I am saying: Don’t touch your brother anymore!
Code: Instead of touching your brother you should put your face right next to his so he will retaliate with a swift blow to your head. All ending with tears
What I am saying: Get in the shower and wash your hair.
Code: Whine and complain all the way to the shower and then do a light dusting with the water until I come in and demand to smell you hair for the lingering scent of soap. Lather, Rinse, Repeat
What I am saying: Please remember to flush the toilet boys.
Code: If it is yellow, let it mellow. If it’s brown, flush it down….unless you forget
What I am saying: Honey, will you please kill that cricket?
Code: If I wait long enough she will do it and remember that I hate all bugs.
If I had known some of the key phrasing I would have changed the way I spoke. But I never knew this super secret code that other moms knew but I do now. Oh boy, do I know.
Now I am off to kill the damn cricket in that bathtub.
